Tonight I cry she said
and I didn't know why
and I wanted to take away
all her reason to cry
but she told me with peace
I could never repeat
that the laughter had left
and this sorrow was sweet
she spoke of the way
they had loved her tonight
how deep their love was
and how shiningly bright
and I would do anything
she said with a smile
to never ever leave them
to just stay for a while
the parting is bitter I said
and she said I know
but their love in my heart
makes my joy overflow.
