the difference between painting and staining

the primary difference between paint and stain
is that paint is a color plastered onto the surface of a thing
while stain is allowed to soak into the surface.

paint is immediately attractive
but all too soon will chip and crack
and fall apart completely.

absorbing deep into its wood,
stain may fade over time

but only because of how deeply it has soaked in.

  1. I love the idea of stain as permanent. It burns deep into very fibers of intricacies. May we be stained in God's love.
