My eyes are sore, and are fighting to close. I am exhausted all over, and the energy is quite drained from my body. It wasn't an especially hard day, but bed sure sounds good right about now.

It's times like this when I feel very grateful for sleep, but did you ever think about why God made us to sleep? I mean, he could've made us just able to keep going, without the need for that source of energy. But I guess he gave us the need to sleep so that we could better understand how to rest in him. And so we could more fully realize our need to depend on him.

"My precious child. I love you and would never leave you. During your times of trials and suffering when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you." I'm tired, God. So carry me as I sleep in your arms.

He said he gives sleep to his beloved. While I am thankful for sleep, I am especially thanking him that I am his beloved. Now that's pretty cool.

  1. We could be like the elves, running or doing something while we 'sleep'. That would be pretty sweet. Go Legolas!!!!

  2. Oh, I know! Sometimes I wish I could be like that. But sleep sure does feel nice... : )
