Giving Him everything

The thing we can't seem to understand is that we have to give everything to God.
All that's in us.
Some of it is stuff that should stay,
and He'll give it back,
perfected and glorified.
Other stuff should never come back,
and He'll throw that away forever.

But what this means for us is that we cannot try to hide our fear,
our frustration,
our anger,
our sin,
our confusion,
our sorrow.
I don't know about you,
but that feels so radical to me.
The fact that God wants us to pour out our all on Him,
and the fact that that includes our angry feelings.
We can't try to keep everything inside us until it's gone
or changed into something good
that we can let people and God see.
God can already see our whole heart,
and everything in it.
The more we try to hide stuff inside us,
the longer we try to keep it hidden,
the more we have that will stay in us forever and never get out.

So it's ok to cry to God.
It's ok to ask God 'Why?'
It's ok to scream to God.
It's ok to yell to God.

Give it to God,
and He'll give back what you need.
Peace that passes all understanding.
