Goodbye

Actually, what I'm thankful for is that goodbye is not forever... even though it might sometimes seem it is.

Today we said goodbye to Uncle Dan and Aunt Jenn and their wonderful family. Jack said he would 'hug me away' (I love that boy!). Annalise cried and cried to have Geneva leave.

Tomorrow we'll say goodbye to Grandpa and Grandma, and Isaiah. We'll see him again for Christmas break in a few weeks, but it will still be hard to leave him.

"Goodbye's the saddest word I'll ever hear; goodbye's the last time I will hold you near. Someday you'll say that word and I will cry, it's gonna break my heart to hear you say goodbye." ~Celine Dion

I guess that's speaking of goodbye in a more final way -- death. But even then, it's not forever when we're united in Christ.

Goodbye originally meant 'God be with you'. I don't often think about it, but that's really what it still means So I'll still weep on the inside when I say goodbye, but it's tears with hope. God will be with them, and goodbye is not forever. Just till we meet again.
