The girl in the mirror

That girl in the mirror
isn't who she wishes she was.
She doesn't like who she is,
she doesn't like what she does.

That girl in the mirror
is afraid to be broken.
Her heart longs to beat,
her soul hasn't spoken.

That girl in the mirror
doesn't know what to say.
She longs for tomorrow,
but wishes it were yesterday.

That girl in the mirror
is lost in her dreams.
Her second reality
is all that she sees.

That girl in the mirror
is hopeful but weary.
This fight seems forever,
this day always dreary.

That girl in the mirror
needs help from above.
Her wings have been broken,
she's forgotten to love.

That girl in the mirror
can't see through the rainstorm.
She can't find the rainbow,
where the silver lines form.

That girl in the mirror
has a hard decision.
To choose what is right;
what's easy blurs her vision.

That girl in the mirror
has a canvas to paint,
Has an answer to find,
no matter how faint.

That girl in the mirror
must tear her face away.
Must find her tomorrow,
and live her today.

  1. Very, very good btw and all that jazz. In other words: SUPER AWESOME! Just saying. Captures the emotion, creates a vivid image, beautifully formed, and ends very nicely!

  2. Nice work. I would change this verse, though, to something like this:

    That girl in the mirror
    Can't see through the storm
    She can't find the rainbow,
    where the silver lines form

  3. Thanks, Siah, you said it way better. I worked on that part for a while and couldn't get it quite to my liking. I'll change it. :)
    Thanks, Isaiah. :)

  6. Thanks, Jess. This is what comes out in the midst of depression. :) My poetry is almost always better when I'm depressed.
